Says announcing death sentence for three is mockery of justice

Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNS: Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep concern over Kolkata court verdict and pronouncement of death sentence to Muzafar Ahmad Rather and said that Judiciary was thought the last resort for justice but instead they are acting as a tool for Injustice.
In a statement issued to KNS, he said that Indian judiciary has never delivered justice when it comes to people of state and their decisions and rulings are always influenced by biased approach and politics.
Pro-freedom leader said that announcing death sentence for the three is mockery of justice and people of Jammu and Kashmir never reposed faith in Indian judiciary as they have witnessed how these institutions were influenced as was done in Afzal Guru case.
Syed Ali Geelani said instead of providing justice on substantial grounds to Afzal Guru, so-called collective conscience of people was entrained.
Geelani expressed his heartfelt sympathy with the family of convict and said that in this hour of grief we and whole nation stand with them.
Hurriyat (G) chairman said that it is very unfortunate that whenever Kashmiri youth are arrested outside state are convicted & implicated against fake allegations and even legal consultation or assistance is not provided and hence the verdicts declared by court are full of flaws.
Geelani said that in this case no evidence was produced, nor he was allowed to put his case and police after preparing a fabricated case influenced court verdict.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) has expressed serious concern about the detainees lodged in Tihar jail and in its appeal to Amnesty International & ICRC has asked to take notice of pitiable plight of detainees.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) said that detainees lodged in outside jails and particularly in Tihar jail are subjected to vengeance and ill-treated. Hurriyat said that youth detained in Tihar jail barrack no 13 are on hunger strike since January 18 against apathetic approach and highhandedness of jail staff.
Hurriyat said that through reliable sources it has come to our notice that in jail number 3 the criminals started an infighting with each other and the TSP on duty initiated an action and during this, the detainees hailing from Kashmir too were thrashed and penalized for no-fault of theirs. The staff ransacked their belongings and desecrated their religious and holy books.
Hurriyat (G) strongly condemned the brute action and said that virtually they have turned Tihar into Guantanamo bay and Abu Grebe prison. Hurriyat (G) said the Kashmiri people detained are prime target for jail staff and are manhandled and ill-treated by jail staff. It is strange that organizations for human rights are turning their deaf ear to all these distressed happenings and never bother to visit this jail as was expected from them. (KNS)
