Apparently miffed over not including Kashmir in the joint statement issued by Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif after they met in Russia recently, Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has declined the invitation from Pakistan High Commission for attending Eid Milan in New Delhi.
Hurriyat (M), meanwhile, will be deciding to attend the Eid Milan or not in a meeting to be chaired by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik said the decision in this regard would be taken only after he receives the invitation from Pakistan High Commission. Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah, however, said he can’t attend the Eid Milan since he was under house arrest.
Pertinently, Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi is organizing Eid Milan on July 22, after it has cancelled the July 4 Iftaar Party at an eleventh hour in the wake of the Ufa meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi. Separatist, prominent civil society members, and journalists from Kashmir has been invited for the event, many of whom were also invited earlier also for the cancelled Iftaar Party.
In a statement issued to KNS, spokesman of Hurriyat (G) Ayaz Akbar has said that Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi has called Geelani over phone and invited him to attend the July 22 Eid Milan.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe spokesman said that the senior separatists leader conveyed to the Pak deputy HC that decision in this regard in the amalgam’s meeting, however, added at the same time that Geelani will not be attending the meeting in protest against not including Kashmir in the joint statement issued by Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif after they met in Russia recently.
Hurriyat (M) spokesman Shahidul Islam said that the the chairman of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umar received a call from Pakistan deputy high commissioner this morning. “Now to attend the Eid Milan or not would be decided in the Hurriyat’s meeting,” he said.
Talking to KNS, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik said he is yet to receive any invitation from Pak high commission. “I can decide only I get the invitation,” he said,
DFP chief Shabir Shah said he will attend the Eid Milan only if he is released from house arrest.
