Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): While terming the 27 October as black day and the day of mourning for the Kashmiris, Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani called for complete shutdown on this day and appealed the people to hoist black flags everywhere on the day. He said that 68 years back India without any constitutional and moral justifications forcibly occupied the state of Jammu & Kashmir on the same day and since then this army is mercilessly killing the innocent and unarmed Kashmiris, vandalizing their properties and raping their daughters and sisters. Geelani sahab who is under continuous house detention from last 6 months was once again today on 23 October forcibly barred from offering the Friday congregational prayers. Besides him senior Hurriyat conference leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, secretary public relation Altaf Ahmad Shah, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Srinagar and Gandarbal Raja Mehraj-ud-din and Mohammad Ashraf Laya also continued to remain under house arrest and to thwart the protest program of Geelani Sahab which was given against the killing of Udhampur attack victim Zahid Rasool Bhat, the police also raided dozens of pro-freedom people and arrested dozens of youths. In a statement issued to the press, Geelani sahab said that 27 October 1947 is that unfortunate and unlucky day for the Kashmiris on which their freedom was forcibly snatched from them and India against the wishes of the people landed its troops here. The people of the Jammu & Kashmir were neither asked for their views about that forced occupation on that day and nor are their wishes and aspirations being respected today. While terming the so-called accession of Maharaja Hari Singh with India as controversial, unreliable and undemocratic, the pro-freedom leader said that firstly the experts raise many important questions over the occurrence of that accession and secondly Maharaja had not got any such mandate from the people of the state. Who had given this authority to an individual that a single person will decide the future of the millions of people on his own and at a time when he was facing a major rebellion in the state and when he was ousted by the people and he left the throne in Srinagar and fled to Jammu.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelGeelani sahab said in his statement that the Indian National Congress had at that time adopted a stand about the princely states that the decision regarding to the future of these states will not be taken by the Maharajas or kings but it is the sole right of the people of the states and they will be asked for their wishes and views about the merging in Pakistan or with the India. He said that rulers of Hyderabad and Junagad of that time wanted to merge their states with Pakistan but India landed its army there by saying that it is against the principles of partition and the wishes of the people but the same rulers of India adopted duel policies on Kashmir and occupied this state against the wishes and aspirations of its people. The pro-freedom leader of Kashmir said that since then the Indian occupational forces are unleashing atrocities and cruelties upon the Kashmiri nation to suppress their peaceful voices and till date about 6 lakh people of the state had been killed by these forces. Ten thousand 10,000 innocent people have been killed in custody and another ten thousand had been subjected to forced custodial disappearance, 7 thousand unknown people are buried in unmarked graves and their identity is continuously being denied. 7500 women of Kashmir have been raped or molested by the occupational forces so far and rape has been used as war weapon in Kashmir. Geelani sahab said that the black and inhuman laws like Disturbed Areas Act (DAA), Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA) are in force in Jammu & Kashmir which are giving free hands to the Indian army and police to unleash atrocities and cruelties on the common people. The political activities of the pro-freedom people have been completely banned and they are being continuously detained either in jails or at their houses. Hurriyat chairman said that the Kashmiri people by observing complete shutdown on 27 October Tuesday, will send a strong message to the world that they continuously oppose the forced and illegal occupation of India in Kashmir and until the presence of a single Indian solider in this state, the freedom struggle of Kashmiri people will continue and they will not accept anything less than complete freedom.
