Hurriyat (G) appeals Int’l community to take cognisance of killings in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNS): Amid severe curbs in whole Valley, authorities barred Syed Ali Geelani from offering Friday prayers in Masjid Hamza in LalChowk, Hurriyat conference (G) on Friday said.
“Hurriyat chairman was stopped after he defied house arrest restrictions and did not allow him to venture out of his Hyderpora house to march towards Masjid Hamza,” Hurriyat (G) said in a statement issued to KNS.
The statement reads that the large contingents of police and CRPF were deployed on main roads leading to residence of Geelani and no one was allowed to move out of Hurriyat office.
Hurriyat on April 04 had announced that Syed Ali Geelani will offer Friday congregational prayers and added that “resistance leadership had planned to stage a peaceful protest against civilian killings in Shopian.”
Hurriyat said “soon as Geelani moved towards LalChowk Srinagar to offer Friday prayers, he was prevented by a heavy contingent of police from doing so.”
Lashing out at authorities, Hurriyat said that police chief in his statement had stated that Geelani is now, “Azad’’ but the continuous curbs on his movement proved that they are relying on false propaganda and their tall claims stand deflated.
“Sealing all roads with concertina wires and barricades leading Hyderpora residence and curbs Geelani defied house arrest, however authorities also barred Geelani from venturing out of his Hyderpora house to march towards Masjid Hamza,” he said.
Geelani in his address, said by placing curbs and detaining resistance leaders, the government was denying them to stage peaceful protests. “It is tantamount to interference in religious matters and appealing international community to raise their voice against massacre of civilians in nook and corner of state,” he said.
“More than twenty were brutally killed and hundreds maimed in pellet firing,” said Geelani, saying “how long Kashmir people, youth should especially be made direct target by force personnel,” he questioned, saying world community should take serious cognisance of unending killings in state.
Geelani said Kashmiris will continue with their struggle till freedom is achieved.
He said the sacrifices of youth won’t go waste and nobody will be allowed to play with their sacrifices, saying “we will never surrender or succumb to pressure but will pursue our cherished mission till it is taken to its logical conclusion.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
The Hurriyat leader appealed to international community to take cognisance of the “brutal” killings and come forward to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
“Since past 70 years people while braving brute forces are laying their precious lives and despite its eight lakh forces and extreme military might, India and its stooges couldn’t dampen our passion for freedom,” he said.
“We, with a sincere heart, want to convey that we are yearning for peace and seek peaceful resolution to the long- pending Kashmir issue.”
“India needs to fulfil its promise of giving Kashmiris their right to self-determination to choose their future,” he said.
“We want to remind Indian authorities,” Geelani said that “we are not demanding any part of India be separated but made it clear Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory which needs a resolution in accordance with resolutions presented by India itself before UN on January 1948”.
Meanwhile, authorities while laying curbs, restrictions and locking mosques foiled the move called by resistance leadership to present resolution in all Mosques.
Hurriyat said that in spite of all restrictions in nook and corner of state, the Aima Masajids readout resolution and people in a unanimous voice accorded and illustrated full favour and support.
Meanwhile, Geelani and Mohd Ashraf Sehrai in a joint condolence message expressed their deep grief over the demise of mother of Hizb ul Mujahideen leader, Imtiyaz Aalam and prayed for departed soul and forbiddance to grieved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned the arrest of its executive member Nisar Husain Rather.
Hurriyat said that Rather was arrested outside the Huriyat office in Hyderpora today and shifted to unknown destination. Meanwhile Huriyat denounced the extreme torture on Wali Mohd Mir brother of THK activist Gh Mohd Mir by police personals and SOG of police station Khurhama.
“Mir was thrashed to pulp and later admitted in Handwara hospital for grievous injuries,” Huriyat added. (KNS)
