Srinagar, Jan 20 (KNS): Criticizing and condemning the unethical and undemocratic actions against Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani and not allowing him to offer Friday prayers and cordon off his office-cum-residence, Hurriyat Conference said that Geelani has been confined in the four walls of his house since 2010 and all his social and political activities have been curbed and he has not been allowed to offer Friday prayers today.
According to a statement issued to KNS, while referring to the court orders, Hurriyat said that even state judiciary has termed this unethical and unconstitutional. However, while defying the court and all ethics, state and police administration is not honouring the court orders, nor they have served any written order or directives in this regard.
Spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Hyderpora residence has already been converted into a sub-jail, but since year 2016, the cordon and restrictions have been reinforced by deploying a contingent of CRPF in a mobile bunker fitted with cameras, which keeps the record of everybody coming and visiting him and even media men are not permitted to meet Geelani. Isolating Geelani from its people is a well-thought design by the imperialistic, cunning and dodgy mindset, said spokesman. Ridiculing the state administration for their arrogance and deceit, Ayaz Akbar said that these restrictions are unlawful and have no justification. Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) while commenting over the reports that Indian agency NIA is to scrutinize the bank accounts of its chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, said that it is a ploy to cow down his sprits, harass and deter him from raising the voice of suppressed and subjugated nation.
Hurriyat (G) said that it is a part of negative campaign, nothing is concealed and his activities are open, transparent and unambiguous. Hurriyat said, that two accounts belonging to Geelani Sahab are functional since year 2014 and were activated after floods and even people were called to deposit in these accounts for rehabilitation and to assist those who were affected by deluge. Hurriyat (G) said that the account numbers were made public and all records regarding income and expenditure or on record in bank and nothing is concealed. Hurriyat said that Tehreek-e-Huriyat a constituent party of APHC is collecting donations throughout the year and particularly in the month of Ramadan and people contribute and donate open-handedly and generously. Hurriyat said that agencies like NIA are being used as a tool to harass pro- freedom leadership, however it won’t help and will prove a futile exercise for those at the helm of affairs. (KNS)
