Srinagar, Jul 13 (KNS): Chairman of Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani and chairman of Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umer Farooq who were arrested after they tried to march towards martyrs’ graveyard to pay homage to July 13 martyrs were released after in late evening.
According to the leaders of amalgams, both the leaders were released from different police stations where they were lodged after they tried to march towards martyrs’ graveyard. “As soon as the leaders reached back to their residences, they were put back in house detention at their respective residences,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Pertinently, the Hurriyat leadership had called for a march on Wednesday to the graveyard at Naqshbandh Sahib in Srinagar.
Geelani was arrested when he came out of his barricaded Hyderpora residence and tried to march towards the graveyard while Mirwaiz tried to jump over the fence of his residence at Nigeen in Srinagar and was also arrested by the police.
The leaders later condemned the arrest and ban on July 13 programme.
