Geelani, Mirwaiz, Yasin demand release of all prisoners, youths before Eid

Condemn arrests, detentions

Srinagar, June 28 (KNS): Strongly condemning the arrests and detentions in Pampore, Kupwara, Srinagar, Islamabad (Anantnag) and Sopore, the pro-freedom leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik cautioned that the police crackdown against the youths in this holy month of Ramadan is a dangerous drive and it can further disturb the situations and make it more worse.
While demanding release of all the political prisoners and youths before the Eid, the pro-freedom leaders said that the state police have become a private armed wing of the pro-Indian politicians and to appease them they have started a war with their own people.
In a joint statement issued to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said that harassment of the common people after the Pampore incident has no legal or moral justification.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelTargeting innocent and unarmed citizens after any gun fight or conflict amounts to the war crimes and it is also a grave human rights violation. The government has started a massive crackdown against the youths not only in Pampore but all over the valley and hundreds of them have been imprisoned in different police stations.
The leaders said that some police officers of Shairbagh and Sadar police stations are trying to be more loyal than the king. They are subjecting the arrested youths to custodial violence and are using abusive language with them. (KNS)
