GDC Samba Commemorates Gandhi’s Legacy of Truth and Non-Violence

Srinagar September 19 (KNS): The NSS unit of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College Samba organized a patriotic singing competition to Commemorate Gandhi’s Legacy of Truth and Non-Violence. The patriotic song competition was a component of the calender of activities framed by Higher Education Department in order to acquaint the students with the rich legacy of Mahatama’s philosophy of ‘Truth and Non-Violence’.

Students of the college belonging to different disciplines showed a great deal of enthusiasm and actively participated in the singing competition. The audience felt enthralled by the extraordinary talent displayed by the participants. Principal of the college Dr. Twinkle Suri in her address apprised the students of the immense contribution made by Mahatama Gandhi in India’s freedom struggle. She asserted that besides being a great freedom fighter, Gandhi was also a profound philosopher whose writings still resonate in the philosophical corridors of the world.

The string of activities commenced with the screening of a movie on Gandhi’s life and philosophy for students along with an educational visit to a public library organized by the Dept. of Political Science. The following events included a student rally on Gandhian gospels by the NCC and NSS wings and a symposium on Truth and Non-violence conducted by Dept. of English.(KNS)
