GDC for women in Sopore faces staff shortage, students suffer

Sopore, Mar 19 (KNS): Students at Government degree college for women in Sopore town have complained about lack of teaching staff, thereby making them suffer a lot. 
 
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), students alleged that most of the posts of teachers at the college are vacant for the past several years and precious time of students is being wasted owing to shortage of teachers. 
 
"There is lack of teaching staff for core subjects like Political Science, History, Tourism, Computer Application, Home Science, Disaster Management, Urdu, Islamic Studies and Sociology for the last nearly two year's,” they said. 
 
They said that lack of faculty is only adding to the miseries of students and they ably to attend merely one-two classes in a day. 
 
"We have been approaching the college administration since long, but nothing has been done in this regard,” said a student of semester 3rd. 
 
She said that they have already suffered huge academic losses during the past two years and there is a need to ensure every possible support to students at this juncture so that the losses can be compensated. 
 
Meanwhile, when contacted Principal of the College, F R Beigh admitted that there is shortage of teaching staff and said that they have already forwarded the same to the higher ups but all in vain. (KNS)
