GDC Baramulla Organises Extension Lectures on Welfare of SC/ST Challanges, Opportunities

Baramulla, 13 April (KNS) : Departments of Sociology and Political Science of Government Degree College Baramulla in collaboration with SC/ST cell of the College organised two extension lectures on "Welfare of SC/ST: Challanges and Opportunities" at the smart hall of the college. 

As per the statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) District Nodal Officer for Covid-19, Muneer Hussain Choudhry(KAS) and District Infromation Officer Mudasir Hussain Choudhry(KAS), delivered the lectures on the themes. 

In his inaugural address Principal Prof.(Dr.) Mishtaq Ahmad Lone reiterated the resolve of the College to work for the betterment of these marginalised students of the college.

Guest speaker Muneer Hussain who himself belongs to the same community acquainted the students about different opportunities available to them both in public and private sector. 

He stressed upon the need to be informed and vigilant about different initiatives taken by government at centre and state level from time to time for the welfare of SC/ST community. He applauded and congratulated the college authorities for taking such initiatives.

Another guest speaker Mudasir Hissain comprehensively discuss about different challanges one might face in his/her journey. He narrated some of the bitter experiences and examples about the plights that such communities have to go through. In the end shared some of the strategies and remedies one has to adopt to overcome such difficulties to reach to ones destiny. He also assured the college administration for every kind of support required for the upliftment of students belonging to SC/ST community.

Students belonging to SC/ST community were invited to participate in the programme.
Prof Shaista Qayoom, HoD Sociology and Convener, SC/ST Cell hosted the event while as vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Zubair Ahmad, HoD History.

Later guests were felicitated by the principal along with HOD Political Science Prof Reyaz Ahmad Wani.(KNS)
