GDA refutes reports of fire tenders not reaching in time to douse hotel fire

 Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): The authorities on Wednesday refuted reports that fire tenders were not able to reach on time to douse a fire in Hotel Pine Palace Platinum in Gulmarg. 

 
In a statement, issued to KNS, Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg said that some videos have shown local people douse the fire with snowballs, which is unfortunate and undermines the stupendous efforts of fire services and local administration.
 
The statement reads that despite very challenging circumstances, with timely efforts of officials of fire service, the fire tenders were not only able to control the fire but minimize the losses as well.
 
"In order to douse the fire more effectively and without delay, two fire tenders were called from Tangmarg as well. It was further stated that the officials of local civil administration including GDA, Municipality, Jal Shakti remained proactive till the fire was doused completely," it said,.
 
It added that to ensure compliance to fire safety protocols so that such fire incidents could be avoided, a team of Fire Services and GDA shall undertake fire audit of all hotels and other structures in Gulmarg from tomorrow. (KNS)
