GCW Parade Ground Holds AI Training Workshop to Empower Future Communicators

Jammu, Nov 15: The Department of Mass Communication and Multimedia Production (MCMP) at Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground, Jammu, in collaboration with ADiRA—an AI readiness initiative by DataLEADS—on Friday organised an intensive workshop titled “Preparing the Indian Workforce for the AI Future.”

Part of a nationwide programme aimed at equipping media professionals and healthcare workers with practical AI skills, the workshop introduced students to the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and its relevance across communication sectors.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. Alpana Vohra, Head of the MCMP Department, underlined AI’s transformative influence on governance, public communication, healthcare, and the media industry. “AI is no longer a distant concept. It is shaping newsroom workflows and the way societies function. Preparing our students for this shift is essential,” she said.

“AI is not here to replace human creativity—it is here to enhance it. The future belongs to those who can combine human insight with technological intelligence,” Dr. Gupta told the participants.

The workshop featured live demonstrations of popular AI tools used in content generation, data analysis, storytelling, and communication tasks. Students interacted through Q&A sessions, gaining clarity on both opportunities and ethical challenges associated with AI.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Akash Kumar, faculty member, MCMP Department, who highlighted the importance of skill-based training within academic spaces. Faculty members Dr. Gurpreet Kour and Dr. Neha Gupta also attended the programme and praised the initiative for preparing students for emerging professional landscapes.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Dr. Gupta and DataLEADS for extending the ADiRA initiative to GCW Parade Ground, empowering students with essential digital and AI competencies.(KNS)
