GCC Seeks Transparency in ‘Rotten Meat’ Probe

Srinagar, Aug 25 (KNS): The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC) has expressed serious concern over what it called “procedural delays and silence” in the handling of the alleged rotten meat scam in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued to KNS, the GCC said the government must disclose the outcome of raids and investigations into reports of sub-standard and rotten meat being sold in markets. “People have a right to know the results of these inquiries to remove doubts created by the silence around the issue,” the group said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The GCC appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to ensure that the Police and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) act without any laxity.

Citing recent data presented in Parliament, the group said the food safety situation in J&K is “highly disturbing” and demanded urgent corrective measures.(KNS)
