GCC expresses shock over recent civilian killings in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 09 (KNS): The Group of Concerned Citizens, a non-political Civil Society Group comprising of academicians, businessmen, advocates, scientists, former judges, civil servants has expressed deep anguish and shock over the recent spate of killings in the Kashmir valley.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the civil society group expressed shock over the barbaric killings of M L Bindroo, Supendir Kaur, Deepak Chand, Mohammad Shafi Lone, and Parvez Ahmad, a civilian shot dead by the security forces at a check-point in Anantnag.

While empathising with victim families and offering them heartfelt condolences, the Group has sought a time-bound judicial probe into these dastardly killings.

The group has also urged the government to unmask the unknown murderers and bring them to justice at the earliest.

The Group has expressed solidarity with the victim families and assured them full moral support. Further, the Group has vehemently condemned the forces attempting to fish in troubled waters by creating a wedge between different communities living peacefully in the Valley.

It denounced with all force, the nefarious designs of certain vested interest groups to create panic through circulation of false and fabricated stories over social media thereby instigating the members of minority community to migrate.

The Group also condemned the mischievous videos gone viral on social media about imaginary migration of people.

GCC has, meanwhile, assured its full support to efforts made at any level for creating and nurturing an atmosphere of amity between different communities living in the Valley. (KNS)
