Srinagar, Apr 21 (KNS): District Special Session Judge on Saturday heard the prosecution and defence counsels of Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party (JKDLP) Hashim Qureshi in Ganga Hijacking case.
In response of the persecution officer, the defense counsels including Advocate Riyaz Jan and Advocate Riyaz Khawar argued before the court that their client can’t be perused again under double jeopardy.
The Prosecution officer during the argument said that the Ganga hijacking incident was a well throughout plan formulated in unison with Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Dr Farooq Haider and on the directions of Pakistan.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The defense counsels as per the DLP leaders while giving references to the previous judgments by the courts said that client can’t be perused again under double jeopardy.
Notably, Hashim Qureshi also appeared before the court today.
The party said that the case which seems in the final stage is continuing since 12-January 2001. “At least 16 judges who heard the cases were either retired or became High Court Judges during this period,” the party said.
The court after hearing the prosecution and defense counsels fixed the next hearing of the case for April 28, 2018. (KNS)
