G20 an opportunity to boost tourism sector in J&K: CCIK President Tariq Gani Badeba

 Srinagar, May 18 (KNS): President, Chamber of Commerce & Industries Kashmir Tariq Gani Badeba Thursday hoped that G20 summit will provide an opportunity to boost tourism sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

He requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to allow tourism stakeholders to meet with visiting delegates so that local tradition, culture and hospitality will be communicated to the outside world.

"G20 summit in Srinagar will be a historical. It will fruitful for tourism sector and will help in ending tourism related travel advisory," CCIK President Tariq Gani Badeba told KNS.

"Due to travel ban by some foreign countries, the J&K has witnessed a huge decline in foreign tourist footfall. It however should be revoked, that will help in development of local art, handicraft, wood carving, paper machie etc," he said.

He requested LG Manoj Sinha to allow tourism stakeholders to meet visiting delegates in order to make G20 a grand successful event. "Recently we held meeting with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir VK Bidhuri who assured the participants that their concerns will be taken care of," he said.

"G20 meeting in Srinagar will give further exposure to J&K and will help in curbing the rising unemployment in the region," he added.

He also added that the Srinagar city has got a massive facelift after 40 years, however there are many other areas which are yet to be addresses. "Under Smart City Project several areas have been renovated and redesigned. Yet there are many areas which need authorities attention. We are hopeful these areas will also be attended in coming times," he continued. (KNS)
