Srinagar, Nov 04 (KNS): Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president and former agriculture Minister on Friday termed the ‘highhandedness’ of the prison authorities at Baramulla jail as undemocratic.
Mir told KNS that the prison authorities should change their behavior towards the prisoners. “Prisoners might have been arrested for their involvement in wrongdoings but they should be treated in a well manner,” he said.
Pertinently, Jail inmates inside Baramulla district jail are on hunger strike, demanding impartial probe in the matter that led to scuffle between them and jail staff.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Scuffle had occurred in bark numbers 5,6,7,8. “In the scuffle, eighteen jail inmates were injured with two of them receiving severe injuries,” reports said.
Mir demanded to put an immediate end to such ‘deplorable’ behavior of prison authorities towards prisoners. (KNS)
