Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNS): Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Veteran Congress Leaders, Former Union Minister and Former Governor Mohd Shafi Qureshi, JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir termed his demise a great loss not only to State of J&K but to the entire country. Qureshi breathed his last in New Delhi today.
Recalling the services rendered by Late. Mohd Shafi Qureshi, PCC Chief said that he was the founder Member of Congress Party in J&K and got elected for Lok Sabha twice from Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency and became Deputy Union Minister of Railways. During his tenure Pathankote – Jammu rail service was started and after that he got the survey done for Jammu Baramulla railway service. The deceased worked hard to ensure rail service in the State for it’s overall development, Mir said.
Late. Qureshi was also appointed as Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Bihar and served the people in both the States to the best of his ability.

He was an intellectual, a leader with a great acumen and visionary also. While having served the Country and state in different capacities, the deceased remained dedicated to the cause of serving people all along his life , Mir said.
PCC Chief offered condolences to bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
MLC & Vice President JKPCC Gulam Nabi Monga expressed grief over the passing away of Mohd Shafi Qureshi and termed his demise as a great loss not for State of J&K, but for the entire country. He said the deceased was a great personality with a great political wisdom, who always worked for development of the State and people.
He offered his condolences to bereaved family.
Meanwhile J&K Pradesh Congress Committee condoled the demise of Mohd Sahfi Qureshi and described him a man of principle, who never compromised on anything and remained at the path of honesty.
