Fruit growers thank LG for facilitating movement of trucks on NH-44

Sopore, July 04 (KNS): Fruit growers and dealers on Monday welcomed the decision of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant governor, Manoj Sinha for facilitating the movement of trucks on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. 

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), president Fruit Mandi Sopore, Fayaz Ahmed Malik said that they are thankful to LG Manoj Sinha for his timely intervention and they are hopeful that directions passed by LG would be strictly implemented on ground. 

He also said that they welcome Amarnath Yatris as they as well and they feel relieved as trucks loaded with fresh fruits were heading to their respective destinations. 

Earlier on Saturday, fruit growers and dealers in Sopore staged a peaceful protest over stopping of fruit-laden trucks on NH-45 in view of the Amarnath Yatra. 

Following the protests, LG Manoj Sinha passed directions to the concerned not to stop trucks loaded with fresh fruits along the national highway and stated that administration was trying to facilitate the movement of yatris and trucks so that no one faces any inconvenience. 

Meanwhile, a day after LG's directions, Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police issued an advisory for the movement of yatris, tourists and trucks along NH-44 and Mughal Road. (KNS)
