Frontline workers must remain vigilant for timely TB detection, says MLA Masoodi

 Pulwama, Mar 24 (KNS) ; Seeking to accelerate the district’s fight against tuberculosis, MLA Pampore, Justice Hasnain Masoodi (Retd), on Monday flagged off the ‘TB Mukt Abhiyaan – 100 Days Campaign’ at a function organised at the Town Hall here to mark World Tuberculosis Day.

 
The event, held under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB,” witnessed the participation of health experts and medical professionals who sensitised the gathering about the symptoms, prevention, and the critical need for timely diagnosis and complete treatment of the disease, with a special focus on community awareness.
 
Addressing the gathering, Justice Masoodi lauded the consistent efforts of the Health Department and the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in combating the ailment. Recalling the challenges TB posed in the past, he noted that the significant decline in mortality rates stands as a testament to the dedication of healthcare workers and other stakeholders.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe legislator stressed the importance of early detection and called upon frontline workers to maintain vigilance to ensure timely identification and treatment of cases.
 
The flagship 100-day campaign, flagged off by the MLA, is designed to intensify case detection, improve treatment adherence, and bolster last-mile delivery of TB services across the district.
 
The programme also featured the felicitation of TB Mukt Panchayats and field functionaries who have played a pivotal role in spreading awareness and contributing to TB control efforts.
 
The event was attended by the Chief Medical Officer, Pulwama; Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Pulwama; District Health Officer; District Tuberculosis Officer; Block Medical Officers; officials from the Rural Development Department; and health staff associated with the NTEP. (KNS)
