From space tech to green energy: 'Rise in J&K 2026' captivates thousands

Srinagar, Jun 18 (KNS); Thousands of students, researchers and young professionals on Thursday thronged the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) here as the second day of the 'Rise in Jammu & Kashmir 2026' exhibition showcased a range of innovations from space technology to green energy solutions.

The three-day event, themed "Building the Path Towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047", is being organised by Tarmeh Events under the guidance of Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana, officials said.

Students from schools, colleges and universities across the Union Territory turned up in large numbers, interacting with scientists and representatives from over two dozen premier national institutions, including the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Indian Railways, and the Department of Atomic Energy.

The visitors evinced keen interest in live demonstrations, working models and interactive exhibits detailing cutting-edge research, space applications, green energy projects and career opportunities in science and technology, they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Several students described the exhibition as a unique learning experience, saying it provided them with practical exposure to the functioning of premier national laboratories and public sector undertakings beyond classroom education.

"The youth here have immense potential. Platforms like these are crucial for inspiring the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs," a representative of a participating organisation said.

Organisers said the initiative is aimed at bridging the gap between the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and the developmental momentum of the nation.

The exhibition, which has witnessed a steady footfall since its inauguration on Wednesday, will conclude on June 19, officials added. (KNS)
