Srinagar, Mar 6 (KNS): Senior leader of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Advocate Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar Sunday said that India has surpassed the records of “tyranny and brutality” which it is inflicting upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir but the people of this disputed territory continue to offer invaluable sacrifices for the freedom of their nation.
In a statement issued to KNS, Sodagar who was addressing the party’s district presidents and representatives at DFP headquarters in Sanatnagar here.
Advocate Sodagar deliberated upon the prevailing political situation of the state and the continuous detention of party chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah besides reminded the party workers of their responsibilities towards the freedom movement.
He also condemned the continuous detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah who was arrested on the intervening night of February 24 and 25 and is lodged in police station Rajbagh, Srinagar.
“Putting the pro-freedom leadership under house arrest or detaining them in police stations bars is aimed at keeping the people away from the real leadership and to create a gulf between the two,” Sodagar said, adding, “Such oppressive and suppressive measures won’t break our resolve to fight or deter us from pursuing the path of seeking freedom from Indian forcible occupation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Conveying the message of the incarcerated leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar said, “India has let loose the reign of terror and oppression upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Killings and arrests have become a routine and people feel suffocated as the whole state has been turned into a virtual jail.”
He lamented over the unsympathetic and cold attitude shown by world leadership towards the grave situation in the state, saying, “This criminal silence is encouraging India to further strengthen its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and boosts the morale of its troops to go berserk and kill people mercilessly.”
During the meeting, which was attended by DFP representatives and district presidents including Er Farooq Ahmad Khan, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Zahoor Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Amin, Abdul Gani, Masood Ahmad Bodah, Gilkaar Sahib, Peer Inauatullah, Mushtaq Ahmad, Muhammad Ibrahim, Sajad ul Haq and Tanveer Ahmad, Adv Fayaz urged all the participants to strengthen the party at grassroots level and consolidate public relations.
Quoting Shabir Ahmad Shah, Adv Sodagar said the world leadership has no choice but to play its role in settling the longstanding dispute of Kashmir in order to ensure a peaceful South Asia. (KNS)
