Sopore, Aug 02 (KNS) : Citing reasons found involved in supplying drugs in the town, Police in North Kashmir's apple town directed the street vendors not to install their carts/stalls in the market.

According to the sources, street vendors in the town were removed on Tuesday by the Police and have been further directed not to install their carts at Iqbal market area of the town.

Station House Officer (SHO) Sopore, Khalid Fayaz when contacted, told KNS that they have directed the cart vendors to not install their carts, as they are involved in supplying drugs within the town.

Despite warning them many times, the SHO said, that street vendors were not adhering to the warnings/directions, following which strict action was taken against them.

"In order to make town a drug free, everyone has to play its role. It's everyone's responsibility to save the lives of the younger generation and for that police can't single handedly work on it", the officer added.

Earlier in the past, the town has continuously
remained in headlines for street vendors issues as they were demanding space for installing their carts.

Notably, police in the town have been doing extraordinary efforts in tackling the drug menace and have arrested dozens of drug peddlers/suppliers from in and around the town.(KNS
