Anantnag, Dec 29 (KNS): Forest Range Kokernag on Tuesday seized 191 SqFt illegal timber from Sonabrari area, officials said.

"Abiding on the directions of Range Officer Kokernag, a special team was constituted led by Forestor Kokernag Mohammad Abbas who along with other officials of the department, after recieving tip-off swung into action and seized 191 SqFt illegal timber from the possession of three persons in Sonabrari area of the district", officials said.

They added that a case under relevant sections of law stand registered in Police Post Kokernag vide FIR No. 163/220.

Talking to KNS, Forestor Mohammad Abbas said that the department will leave no stone unturned to curb this illegal trade. He also said that we are committed to stop this illegal venture and all those involved in it would be brought to justice.

The officer added that the more drives would be conducted in days to come for safeguard of wooden areas. At the occasion he appreciated Range Officer Kokernag and DFO Anantnag for extending fu support and cooperation for making the task successful. (KNS)
