Srinagar April 23 (KNS): The Forest Department, North Forest Circle, today marked Earth Day with enthusiastic participation from senior officers and officials. The day's events, held at the Circle Headquarters, Sopore underscored the department's commitment to environmental conservation and raising awareness about the importance of protecting our planet.
A vibrant environment rally was the highlight of the morning, with participants carrying placards and banners emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and responsible stewardship of natural resources. The rally, which saw significant participation from staff members across various divisions within the North Forest Circle, aimed to spread the message of environmental consciousness within the department and the wider community.
Following the rally, a plantation drive was organized. Focusing on enhancing the green cover of the region, participants planted conifer saplings within the Circle Headquarters premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Ali Shah(IFS) , Conservator of Forests, North Kashmir emphasized the crucial role of the Forest Department in safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir's rich biodiversity and natural heritage. He reiterated the department's dedication to implementing sustainable forest management practices and engaging the community in conservation initiatives.
Sh Anurag Arya(IFS),DFO Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara said, “The celebration of Earth Day at the North Forest Circle Headquarters served as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility towards the environment.
