Srinagar, May 25 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to carry anti-violators drive, commuters for the first time in recent years are experiencing hassle free drive on the city roads.
The commuters hailed authorities for ensuring smooth traffic movement on roads, especially in city centre Lal Chowk which otherwise had witnesses unending gridlock traffic jam.
Zameer Ahmad, one of the commuters said that the authorities have successfully regulated the traffic in congested areas.
“We are highly thankful to the authorities for taking such steps for the betterment of the people,” he said.
A group of commuters at MA Road said that now people at large are following traffic rules, adding, “However, the privileged class must also follow the rules.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
“Forest Minister Lal Singh jumped the red light at Humhama Chowk. The vehicles were in a queue waiting for the green light but the forest minister didn’t pay heed and jumped the signal,” a commuter said.
He said that ministers or other higher ups should also be challaned for violating the traffic norms.
An official told KNS that the manpower of the department is low but despite that the department managed to regulate the traffic for the well-being of the people. “We will try to bring more relief to the people in near future,” he said. (KNS)
