Food Safety Officer inspects langers at Lamber Ground Banihal

Ramban July 20(KNS): On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, Food Safety Officer Balbeer Singh conducted extensive inspections of all langers established at Lamber Ground, Banihal to ensure the health and safety of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris.

During the inspection, expired food items, including rotten and sprouted potatoes, were identified and destroyed. The langer sewadars and pradhans were directed to reduce oil usage in food preparation by 10% and minimize the quantity of salt and sugar to serve healthier meals to pilgrims.

A total of 35 food samples were tested using the Food Safety on Wheels mobile lab and all were found to conform to the standards prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Regulations (FSSR).Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Awareness sessions were also conducted for langer volunteers on key topics such as food safety, personal hygiene, preservation techniques and good hygiene practices.

The sewadars were directed to ensure the provision of fresh, wholesome, safe and nutritious food to all Yatris.

This proactive inspection forms part of the ongoing efforts by the district administration to uphold the highest standards of public health and safety during the Yatra.(KNS)
