Food safety Dept asks food business operators to apply for license instead of registration

Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNS): The authorities have directed food business operators to apply for FSSAI license who are running their business units instead of registration in different areas of Srinagar. 

During market inspection of various areas of district Srinagar, assistant commissioner food and Safety, Hilal Ahmed Mir told to 'Kashmir News Service' (KNS) that it has been observed that some Food Business Operators whose turnover is more than 12 lac have obtained Registration Certificate instead of FSSAI License which is against the rules and regulations of Food Safety ActAct, he said. 

“All such Food Business operators are directed to immediately apply for license otherwise action under relevant provisions of law shall be initiated against them,” he further said. 

All those Food Business operators who are without license should also apply immediately for same by accessing the link foscos.fssai.gov.in. 

“To start food business without obtaining license is an offence punishable with imprisonment upto six months and fine upto rupees five lac,” he adds. 

 Basically license fee is minimum 2000 while as registration fee is just 100 license requires certain documents while as no documents except I'd proof is required for registration so fbos take undue advantage and obtain registration certificate instead of license that is issue, he added. 

Meanwhile Commissioner FDA Shakeelu Rehman has directed all enforcement officers to strictly act against those who violate rules and regulations of food safety Act. (KNS)
