JKAACL-RK host interactive session with eminent educationist

Srinagar, Jan 20 (KNS): J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Radio Kashmir, Srinagar Tuesday jointly organized a talk-cum-interactive session with noted academic and psychologist, Prof. A.G. Madhosh. Among others Prof. Mehmood Ahmad Khan, Dean and Head, Faculty of Education, University of Kashmir, former Director Programmes, Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar, Salamudin Bajad and former Head MERC, Kashmir University, Prof. Nasir Mirza were present at the Seminar Hall of JKAACL during the interactive session.
Held under the title “Naamwar’ the interactive session was first of its kind where people mostly students and members of civil society were afforded opportunities of interaction with the invited guest.
Speaking on the occasion, programme head, Radio Kashmir, Srinagar, Syed Humayun Qaisar said that the main objective of the event was to bring eminent personalities of Kashmir on one platform and afford opportunities to people to interact with them.
“Our main motive is to lessen the gap between the intellectuals and the people of Kashmir. That is why Naamwar has been launched by JKAACL and Radio Kashmir as a joint venture,” Qaisar said.
The event started with a welcome speech by Deputy Secretary, JKAACL, Syed Shakeel-ur-Rehman who gave a brief overview of Academy’s activities and stated that the Academy would continue to host such events.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The welcome address was followed by renderings of Kashmiri ghazals of Prof. Madhosh by singer Kifayat Faheem. As part of the event a comprehensive paper on life and works of Prof. Madhosh was also read by G. N. Shakir.
Later a question-answer session was also held in which members of the audience actively participated and posed myriad questions to the noted academic mostly on the prevailing educational scenario in the State.
Sharing his life experiences as an academic, Prof. Madhosh said that for fruitful results in the field of education, it was imperative that capacity buildings of teachers was given importance.
“The moment you invest in capacity building of teachers, you begin the process of reformation in the field of education,” he said, adding, the approach of capacity building was need of the hour.
In his presidential remarks, noted writer, Farooq Nazki complimented JKAACL and Radio Kashmir, Srinagar for starting a programme like “Naamwar”.
“Such interactions with eminent personalities should become a routine affair so that people could learn from them,” Nazki said. As a token of affection, a shawl and citation were presented to Prof. Madhosh by the organizers. The programme culminated with vote of thanks by Satish Vimal while proceedings of the event were conducted by Rashid Nizami. (KNS)
