Fire destroys residential house in Lal Bazar

 Srinagar, Dec 29(KNS): A three-storeyed residential house was completely gutted in a fire incident in Umar Colony of Lal Bazar area in Srinagar on Monday morning, officials said.

 
An official spokesperson said the State Fire Control Room, Batamaloo received a fire call at around 8:42 am, reporting that a residential house had been engulfed in flames.
 
Fire tenders from Fire Station Hazratbal and Fire Station Nowshehra were immediately rushed to the spot. Considering the congested nature of the locality and the absence of an immediate water source, additional reinforcements from the Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters were also pressed into service, the officials said.
 
Upon reaching the site, fire crews found the three-storeyed residential structure fully involved in fire. Firefighting operations were launched promptly, and after sustained efforts, the blaze was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
The operation was led by Divisional Fire Officer (DFO) Headquarters Muzaffar Ali Bhat and was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Director Fire and Emergency Services Dr Mir Aqib Hussain, along with Mobilising Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah.
 
Officials said the house was completely gutted in the incident. However, no loss of life or injuries were reported.
 
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and is under investigation, they added.
 
Meanwhile, Fire and Emergency Services Srinagar reiterated its appeal to the public to strictly follow fire safety norms, particularly in densely populated residential areas, to prevent such incidents.(KNS)
