Fire & Emergency aspirants stage protest in Srinagar, seek justice

Srinagar, Oct 3(KNS): A large group of aspirants for the Fire and Emergency Services recruitment staged a protest in Srinagar on Friday, alleging irregularities in the selection process and demanding the release of a long-awaited inquiry report.

Gathering at the Press Colony in the heart of the city, the protesters — many of whom had traveled from different districts across Kashmir — raised slogans demanding justice and transparency.

They claimed that despite assurances from the government, the findings of a probe into alleged recruitment malpractice have not been made public.

“We were told that a committee had been formed years ago to look into the irregularities. The report was supposed to be released within a month, but it’s been over seven months now and there is complete silence,” said one of the protesting candidates.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The aspirants alleged that undeserving candidates with political connections or influence were unfairly selected, sidelining many meritorious applicants. “This is not just about jobs — it’s about fairness. We prepared for years, cleared all stages, and yet, we were ignored,” another protester remarked.

The protesters urged the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to act swiftly and restore their faith in the recruitment system. “We only want the truth. If the government believes in transparency, then make the report public and ensure justice,” one aspirant said.(KNS).
