Doda, May 30 (KNS): An FIR has been registered against Jammu and Kashmir Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and sitting MLA Mehraj Malik on serious charges, including criminal intimidation, defamation, and outraging the modesty of a woman doctor.
The complaint, filed by an associate professor at a government medical college in Doda, accuses Malik of using abusive, gendered, and threatening language during live social media broadcasts. The doctor alleges that Malik used phrases like “ghaseetunga” (I will drag you) and “will strip you naked,” which she says were direct threats to her dignity and professionalism.
In a serious claim, the doctor also stated that Malik, along with his associates, entered the hospital’s labour room without permission while live-streaming — a move that she said violated patient privacy and created panic among staff and patients.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The police confirmed the registration of the FIR and said an investigation is underway.
Malik has previously faced criticism for his use of offensive language. Notably, on March 17, 2025, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him in a separate defamation case involving former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori.
The doctor has urged authorities to act swiftly, citing the psychological impact of the threats and the need to maintain a secure hospital environment. The incident has triggered public concern and renewed calls for accountability from elected representatives.(KNS)
