Srinagar, Feb 18 (KNS): Residents in Nowgam, Langate protested today afternoon after absence of doctors and paramedics in Newtype Primary Health Center compelled the parents of a young woman patient to shift her to SHMS in Srinagar after her condition aggravated due to her abdominal pain.
“Nasreena, 19, daughter of Abdul Rashid Ganaie of Nowgan had abdomen pain this afternoon at 4 pm. Her parents rushed her to NTPHC Nowgam for treatment. But no doctor or paramedic was on duty in the health centre,” the relatives of the patient told KNS.
“A sweeper posted in the health center kept the patient and her parents awaiting for half an hour during which her pain aggravated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelFurther wait could have proved fatal for her,” the relatives said.
They said that the health centre was closed and no doctor was attending to his duties.
The agitated locals protested against the “callous and negligent” attitude of doctors and the paramedics, and locked the hospital.
They appealed the district administration to take action against the staff of the health centre for being negligent to their duties.
