Pulwama, Feb 22 (KNS): Army on Monday said that with retrieving the bodies of two militants from JKEDI building, the three day long operation ended in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Defense spokesman, Colonel N N Joshi told KNS that the search operation in the building is going on. “We have retrieved the body of two militants killed in gunfight,” he said.
He said that the firing has stopped from past one hour and the search operation is still on. “We are looking for the body of third militant believed to be on the top floor of the JKEDI building,” Joshi told KNS.
Meanwhile, the clashes between youth and forces continue in the adjacent areas of encounter site.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAt least 15 youth also sustained injuries in the clashes.
The suspected militants attacked the CRPF convoy on Saturday evening and hid in JKEDI building.
The death toll in encounter mounted to seven including a civilian, Abdul Gani Mir of Gundipora Pulwama who was gardener in JKEDI, captain Pawan Kumar of 10 PARA regiment belonging to Jind (Haryana), captain Tushar Mahajan of 9 PARA regiment belonging to Udhampur town of Jammu region, Lance Naik Om Prakash of 9 PARA regiment, head constable Bhola Prasad Singh, a driver constable R. K. Rana, both of the CRPF and a militant. (KNS)
