Srinagar, Jul 25 (KNS): To access the damage caused due to recent cloudburst, Secretary PHE I&FC Farooq Ahmad Shah Wednesday visited 19 MGD Filtration plant at Nishat through which more than 6 lakh souls of Srinagar city are provided with 8 crore 62 lakh 60 thousand litres of drinking water per day.
During his visit, he said that there will be no compromise in providing safe drinking water to the general public. He said that the reluctant officers shall be taken to the task and stressed upon all the concerned to work with dedication and make sure to provide safe drinking water to the public.
While inspecting the various units of filtration plant, Secretary directed the concerned officers to ensure cleanliness in and around the filtration plant.
The Secretary also visited the laboratory in the filtration plant and directed the concerned staff to ensure proper testing of the water samples and conduct the tests according to the standard procedures to ensure safe drinking water to the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Earlier Farooq Ahmad Shah also visited Dal Bund Lift station and took stock of its functioning. Later he visited DachigamNaala at Harwan and directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps to repair the breaches in the embankments of the Naala including WangathTelbal.
The Secretary later also visited water conservation reservoir at Harwan and took stock of the work in progress on it. He directed the officers to ensure the completion of this Water Reservoir by the end of this financial year. Pertinently this project has been taken with an expenditure of 9 crore 65 lakh 93 thousand rupees out of which 4 crore 28 lakh have been spent till now.
During his visit, Secretary was accompanied by SE Hydraulic Circle Srinagar B.L. Bhardwaj, Executive Engineer PHE Ajaz Ahmad Qureshi, Executive Officer Irrigation and Flood Control GhulamRasool Shah and other senior officers of the Department. (KNS)
