Srinagar, Jan 21 (KNS): The secretary Tourism and floriculture took an extensive visit to inspect the ongoing works in Jammu division along with the Director Tourism Jammu and other officials.
Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmad Shah, inspected the complete work of Shri Amarnath Yatra base camp site at Kathua, at Lakhanpur.
He took stock ongoing work of state of the art multi facility Traveller Mart and budget accommodation complex which will be completed and ready for operations in the end of Feb2017.
The Travelers Mart has all the facilities for the comfort of tourists and other travelers entering the state through this gateway, it has an art gallery which will display the famous Basholi paintings, handicrafts of J&K, which can be displayed in the kiosks as well.
The secretary had an on spot review to harness the potential of turning the unutilized 250 kanals of land facing the water of river Ravi into a major tourist attraction in the state by developing it into a river front resort for which the secretary instructed the officials to make a master plan at the earliest so that the work on this direction can be started at the earliest he also directed the officials to prepare a complete DPR for beautification and landscaping of the said area to make it a tourism attraction he said that it will be an addition to fulfill the dream of the CM Mehbooba Mufti, for making Jammu as an independent tourism destination the said Resort will come up on modern lines with a children park ,Ice ring and other tourist facilities.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Shah also visited the Basholi area and asked the officials to promote this area for diverting a larger chunk of Himachal bound tourists to Chenab valley via Chaman road.
He later visited the TRC Basholi and asked the officials to explore the possibility for water sports on the waters of Ranjeet sagar dam later he visited the Basholi art gallery and asked the officials to make it functional at the earliest. (KNS)
