Jammu, Nov 07 (KNS): National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah on Monday condemned the lathicharge on peaceful party rally held in the winter capital, saying muzzling voice of people and showing intolerance to dissent does not augur well for democracy.
In a statement issued to KNS, the two leaders described as deplorable the large scale detention of workers and senior leaders, who were highlighting miseries of people across the state.
Later, Dr Abdullah visited the Government Medical College, Hospital, Jammu to enquire about the health of Youth National Conference activist Anoop Sharma, who sustained grievous head injuries due to police lathicharge near City Chowk early in the day.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Sharma, along with 54 National Conference workers were injured when police cracked on them near City Chowk to stop the huge party rally from proceeding towards the Civil Secretariat for registering protest against failure of the PDP-BJP Government on all fronts.
Accompanied by Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and senior leader and former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia, the National Conference President wished the injured party activist early recovery. (KNS)
