Fake sim card racket busted in Bandipora, one arrested: Police


Bandipora, July 16 (KNS): Bandipora Police has busted a fake sim card racket and arrested one person for allegedly issuing fake sim cards by using forged documents. 

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), police had received information through reliable sources that some PoS agents were allegedly cheating people by forging their documents to procure sim cards for their personal interests and selling such sim cards for criminal acts. 

The statement reads that in this regard a case FIR No. 109/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Bandipora and further investigation was taken up.

It reads that during the course of investigation name of one person identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Mohammad Ganie of Checkreshipora was established and he was arrested. 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused person has issued many sim cards on fake particulars using forged documents, bank passbooks and also used his own photograph.”

It added that general public is advised to remain cautious and acquire sim cards through legal means after completing all verification processes and not to fall prey to the vested interests of these scammers. “Further investigation into the case is going on.” (KNS)
