Srinagar, Mar 5 (KNS): The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has apprehended an alleged habitual fraudster from Haryana for duping youth on the pretext of arranging overseas jobs, officials said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Farhat Abbas Malik, a resident of Doda district, was arrested from Faridabad after evading arrest for several months in connection with a case registered at Police Station SCW, Crime Branch Kashmir.
An official spokesperson said the accused was involved in cheating unemployed youth from Srinagar and other areas by promising them job placements abroad, particularly in Armenia, and collecting money from them.
“He had been evading arrest in FIR No. 02/2025 registered at PS SCW, Crime Branch Kashmir. A special team tracked his location to Faridabad, Haryana, and apprehended him,” the spokesperson said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
After his arrest, the accused was produced before the Duty Magistrate Court in Faridabad, which granted transit remand. He was subsequently brought to Srinagar and presented before the competent court, officials said.
The Crime Branch said further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the extent of the alleged fraud and identify any other victims or associates involved in the racket.
Advising the public, particularly job aspirants, the Special Crime Wing urged youth to verify the credentials and authenticity of job placement agencies and consultancies before making any payments.
“People should exercise due caution and confirm the legitimacy of overseas employment offers to avoid falling victim to such frauds,” the spokesperson added.(KNS).
