The protesters assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and raised anti-government slogans. They were demanding immediate release of the detained members and implementation of the government order.
Talking to KNS, Ghulam Hassan, a senior member of the union said, “The government has issued an order in the month of June last year (2016) but the government hardly bother to implement the order on the ground.”
He said that they are on strike from past several days but unfortunately the government has failed to look into the demands of the union.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The delay in implementing orders on the ground has resulted in immense hardships to them. Government must look into the matter as the delay in it would leave us to starvations,” he said.
Hassan said that during the protests against the government at least 32 members of the union were detained and in the late evening they were shifted to the Islamabad jail.
While condemning the detention of the union members, Mir said, “The detained members of the union must be released at earliest. It is unfortunate that the government is using tactics to suppress the voices of labours.”
However, the protesting union members later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
