Extremist elements in Jammu are being given free hand to harass particular community: Hurriyat (M)

Condemns authorities for not handing over the bodies of three slain militants to locals

Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): Condemning the authorities for not handing over the bodies of three slain youth who were martyred in a gun battle with government forces in Sempora Pampore to the locals for carrying their last rites, Hurriyat (M) Wednesday said this was against all norms of humanity and morals values.
Paying glowing tributes to the martyred youth, the Hurriyat (M) said the people of Kashmir have been, for the past several decades, giving enormous sacrifices for the cause of freedom and it was the need of the hour that the leadership of India shun its policy of repression and suppression in Kashmir and take meaningful steps for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
The Hurriyat has termed the use of excessive force by the government forces and Police on unarmed protesters in Pampore, imposition of curfew in the area and arrests of scores of youth in Tral as completely undemocratic and dictatorial.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In the meanwhile Hurriyat spokesman while condemning the razing to ground of residential abodes belonging to the Gujjar community by the district administration in Saroor, Samba and the killing of a person Muhammad Yaqoob, the spokesman said the harassment of the community by the government and the authorities had been going on for quite some time now.
Stressing that the extremist elements in Jammu were being given a free hand to harass the members of a particular community, he said demolishing the houses of Gujjar community members without providing alternative accommodation to them reflects the policy of apathy of the authorities towards this community.
