Except for Srinagar, Budgam, mobile internet restored in all districts of Kashmir after 5 days 

Srinagar, Sept 06 (KNS): Except for Srinagar and Budgam districts, mobile internet services were restored in all districts of Kashmir after remaining suspended for 5 days following the death of veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on late Wednesday night.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that mobile internet services were restored at around 7 pm in all districts of Kashmir Srinagar and Budgam.

Notably, voice calling, broadband and mobile internet services were shut at mid-night on Wednesday after the death of Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his home in Hyderpora area of Srinagar.

Geelani, who was 92 years of age, died after a prolonged illness at around 10 pm on Wednesday. Following his death, restrictions and communication blackout was imposed in the Kashmir valley as a precautionary measure.

Later, on Friday evening, voice calling and broadband internet facility was restored in the valley after two day, however, mobile internet continued to remain shut for 5 days.

The official said that the services were restored today evening.
 
Earlier, IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar had told KNS that mobile internet will be open shortly today at 7pm in all districts except Srinagar and Budgam. 

He said that they will review about Srinagar and Budgam tomorrow afternoon. (KNS)
