Establishing Sainik Colony a sinister design to weaken demographic character of JK: Jama’at

Appeals pro-freedom leaders, religious organizations, civil society to come forward

Srinagar: On the recommendation of Rajya Sainik Board (RSB), the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has already approved the allotment of about 173 kanals of land near Old Airport Srinagar for establishment of residential facilities for the non-state subject army officers and personnel but the RSB has demanded 350 kanals of land for the said purpose.
The said board is going to start the construction of the said colony soon after the land is identified by the state authorities, which is already in process. The allotment of the land in this way is a part of a well-designed plan for erosion of the special status under Article 370 which prohibits the allotment of land for settlement of any non-state subject within the state. It is also an attempt to harm the disputed character of Jammu and Kashmir under the UN resolutions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) in a statement issued to KNS condemns this scheme of establishing a Sainik colony for the families of the army officers and personnel from outside the state deployed in this state.
Jama’at describes it a sinister design to weaken the demographic character of the state which is not acceptable to the people here.
Jama’at appeals all the pro-freedom political leaders and religious organizations and the civil society to come forward for framing a joint strategy against this vicious scheme and educate the common masses about its ill-effects. (KNS)
