New Delhi, March 9 (KNS) ; Incarcerated Member of Parliament Baramulla Engineer Rashid has extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the holy month of Ramzan, urging them to maintain peace and restraint during this sacred period.
In a message addressed to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir , MP Er Rashid conveyed his warm wishes to every household and prayed for peace, harmony and well-being for the people of the region.
Referring to the unfortunate assassination of Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, MP Er Rashid said that people across the region expressed their grief and protest by coming onto the streets. However, he expressed deep pain over incidents of violence that took place during the protests.
Er Rashid said that violence has no place in any civilized society, particularly in a region like Jammu and Kashmir that has already suffered immense loss and devastation over the past 35 years.
Appealing to the people, MP Er Rashid urged them to ensure that peace prevails across Jammu and Kashmir during the holy month of Ramzan. He said violence only breeds more violence and often gives excuses to those who wish to suppress the genuine voices of the people, while innocent youth and children ultimately become victims of the cycle of revenge.
He also appealed to the administration to release those mourners who were detained during the protests as a gesture of goodwill and brotherhood in the Kashmir Valley.
Highlighting the spiritual essence of Ramzan, Er Rashid said the sacred month teaches patience, tolerance and compassion and expressed hope that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will uphold these values and collectively reject violence in all forms. “Let us preserve the sanctity of Ramzan and work together for peace, dignity and harmony,” he said.
