Uri, Jul 27 (KNS): Urging NHPC not to play with the lives of people around water storage sites, AIP President Er. Rasheed has sought enquiry into the incident in which an 18 years old girl Rubeena Bano D/o: Anwar Shah Resident of Dachi drowned and lost her life near the outlet of Salamabad Dam.
During his day long visit in various hamlets of Uri including Dachi, Basgran, Gengal and other places Er. Rasheed interacted with various deputations and listened to public grievances.
Later AIP delegation including Mir Khurshed, Haji Muneer, Tanveer Chalkoo, Imran Budoo, Mohd. Maqbool Sofi, Javid Ahmad Mir and Ab. Qudoos visited the house of Rubeena Bano at Dachi to offer the condolence to her family.
Addressing a condolence gathering on the occasion, Er. Rasheed accused NHPC of failing to fulfill its legal and moral duties. Er. Rasheed was told that the arrogance of NHPC is touching all time high and they have no respect for rights and lives of people living around dam sites and other strategic places.
Asking NHPC to mend its behavior, Er. Rashed said “Rubeena is not the only one who lost her life due to negligence of NHPC, but so for around a dozen human lives have been lost just for the reason that NHPC is not interested even in taking preventive measures to stop mishaps. It is unfortunate that the authorities have stopped using sirens to aware masses when gates of dams are open to allow bulk quantities of surplus water to flow into Jehlum and Rubeena’s death occurred only for the reason that no siren was used till she was trapped by the flashy surplus waters”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
