Enhance reservation quota of OBC includes all types of craft-men upto 27 Percent: Gh. Hassan Mir

Bishnah, February 28 (KNS): Apni Party has urged Govt to enhance the reservation quota of OBC community including all types of craft-men, upto 27% in J&K.

The demand was raised by Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir who attended one day OBC Convention at Bishnah, District Jammu in which a large number of people participated. The convention was organized by State Coordinator OBC Madan Lal Chaltra.

In a statement issued to news agency-kashmir news service (KNS), Ghulam Hassan Mir said “The reservation quota of OBC - it includes all types of craft-men whether in Jammu or in Kashmir Divisions - should be enhanced so that they can be uplifted socially and economically.”

He said that the commission report on OBC has also not submitted its report so that the reservation quota can be extended upto the national level quota of the OBC including in Kashmir.

He said that “The people are not satisfied with the working of administration and the bureaucratic attitude has disappointed the people with their arrogance and negligence of public issues.”

In these circumstances, he said, the Govt should hold assembly elections as early as possible to get rid of the bureaucratic attitude.

“An elected Govt can resolve issues of public and win the hearts of the people both in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

He appealed that the prices of petrol and diesel have gone out of the pockets of the average public. “The Govt both in Centre and in States/UT should reduce taxes to bring down petrol and diesel price,” he added.

He said that the increased price of petrol and diesel has hiked the prices of essential commodities. Meanwhile, Parveen Kumar Panch, and Girdhari Lal (social activists) alongwith his support also joined the Apni Party.

In his address, General Secretary, Apni Party, Vikram Malhotra said that the BJP has used the OBC people for their benefits as vote banks attracting them with hollow and false promises.

“Those promises to bring their reservation at par with National Level quota are still pending and the BJP is trying to exploit them again with the false promises,” said Malhotra.

He said that “The people have understood and they will not get fooled again from BJP. The Govt should consider their demand seriously.”

Former Minister and Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh said that “The OBC community enjoys 27% in the country, but it is getting only 4 % which was recently enhanced from 2 %.”

He said that the OBC community is not kept at par with the national level reservation.

“In J&K, Other Social Caste certificates are demanded from the unemployed youth belonging to OBC Community for jobs in Union Territory. However, for national level jobs at the centre, the OBC certificate is considered by the recruitment agencies,” he said, and demanded that the OBC should be given only OBC certificates.

Meanwhile, Former MLA and senior leader Apni Party, Kamal Arora highlighted difficulties being faced by OBC community.

Arora said that the community remained neglected for decades and no one has represented them with an intention to redress their issues. “These people should be given political, social and economical opportunity for their upliftment,” he said.

On this occasion, State Coordinator OBC, Madan Lal Chalotra also highlighted various issues of the OBC community. “The community has suffered since the last many decades, but time has come when we all have to fight for our rights,” Chalotra added.
