Srinagar, Jul 19 (KNS): The encroachment of the roads in Kashmir by the shopkeepers is going unabated while the authorities are not taking any action against violators.
The encroachment of the roadsides by shopkeepers is giving a tough time to the commuters as well the pedestrians in towns and the Srinagar city in the Kashmir valley.
The commuters as well as the pedestrians said that occupying the roadsides in the main market has resulted in immense hardships to them.
“Nobody is paying heed over it even the authorities don’t even bother to act against the road occupiers,” they said, adding that it is also among the cause of frequent traffic mess here.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that the shopkeepers at most of the places in Kashmir especially in the busy markets and along Airport road are occupying the roadsides by installing the stalls, which results in immense hardships to the commuters in most of the times.
Minister for Public Works (R&B) Naeem Akhtar told KNS that they will look into the matter and take action against violators.
The officials however claimed to have taken steps to reduce the encroachment. They said that several illegal constructions raised in the prohibited zone have been razed while the anti-encroachment drive is still ongoing. (KNS)
