Encounter started in Hakripora Pulwama

Srinagar October 20:(KNS) Another gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Hakripora area of Kakapora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday, police said.

Reports reaching to KNS said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 50RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation after specific information about the presence of militants in the area recieved.

A police official said that as the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter in the area.

As per the official, two to three militants are believed to be trapped inside the cordon. He added prior to retaliatory fire militants were offered to surrender which they refused.

Yesterday a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Melhoora area of Shopian district in which two militants were killed whose identity as per police official is yet to be ascertained. (KNS)
