Srinagar, June 15 (KNS): The first meeting of J&K Electronic and Print Media Association (EMPA) — an amalgam of professional journalists from electronic and print media was held in Srinagar under the chairmanship and Syed Tajamul Islam and General Secretary Tariq Bhat.
According to statement issued to KNS reads, the participants held the threadbare discussion on various matter including the long pending demands of journalists.
The EMPA lauded the efforts of journalists for bringing up correct and true information to public amid COVID19 pandemic.
During the meetings, it was decided that there should be a set-time frame within which the Government should resolve the grievances of journalists and the issues related to them.
On the occasion the president EMPA Syed Tajamul said that the Association would impart training to budding journalists working in farflung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that journalists who risk their lives in gathering information amid pandemic are frontline warriors.
“Now we have decided to take all journalists on board for the purpose of developing the media industry in Jammu and Kashmir were none will be discriminated on the basis of organization. If someone is working for an online news portal or any other organization, his dignity will not be reduced but will be treated equal as compared to other journos,” the association said.
EMPA General Secretary Tariq Bhat said that budding journalists need to be encouraged. He said that EMPA will use its good offices to take up the grievances of journalists with authorities and to get them redressed.
Bhat further said that EMPA will act as a voice of journalists who have remained unheard. (KNS)
