Srinagar, Mar 06 (KNS): An elderly man was killed while 25 others including a cop were injured after militants hurled a grenade at Amira Kadal area of Srinagar on Sunday, police said here. 

 
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a police spokesperson said that today a grenade attack took place in the market near Amira kadal bridge at around 4:20 PM, injuring 26 persons including a cop, in which one old man from Nowhatta succumbed to injuries while one girl is critically injured and is battling for life. 
 
The statement reads that also, 24 other persons including a policeman have received splinter injuries but are out of danger. 
 
“In light of this act of grenade throwing in the busy Sunday market near Amira Kadal bridge, all civilians are requested to be vigilant and report any suspected activity to thwart the nefarious designs of militants,” police said.
 
The statement further reads that efforts are underway to nab the culprits behind the attack. (KNS)
